Question 42: The value of a commodity does not increase if it is made by a slow or inept laborer. Explain carefully why not.
[96] Hippie: The value of a commodity does not increase if it is made by a slow or inept laborer because its use value does not increase. A factory-made glass that will hold twelve ounces of water is just as useful as an identical glass that was handblown by a glassblower. The factory glass was made in a fraction of the time that it took the glassblower. If each one is equally useful, I would be foolish to pay more for the handcrafted glass. The glassblower knows this and must price his glasses accordingly.
  Hans: Yes.
