Question 116: Give everyday examples of “material relations of persons” and “social relations of things.”
[162] X: A personal example of a material relationship in my life would be the relationship that I have with my local computer distributor. I do computer repair work as a hobby and I frequently go to my distributer to get parts. If it weren't for my desire for computer parts and my distributor's desire for money, we would have no relationship at all. This is an example of material relations of persons.
An example of social relations of things would be the relationship that I have with a buddy of mine in which we play computer games with each other. This relationship is based on the fact that we both enjoy computers games. There is nothing material to gain from my relationship with him.
