  [36] Shogunn: Definition of a commodity.   A commodity is a thing that satisfies human wants. It can be anything that is produced for sale or exchange. A commodity has value. It has both exchange value, which is a manifestation of the amount of labor put in, and it has a use value which is independent of its exchange value.
