Question 51: The value of a commodity does not increase if it is made by a slow or inept laborer. Explain carefully why not.
[42] Jasmine: Labor quality descides commodity value.   The quantity of labor contained in a commodity decides the value of the commodity, however, the quantity depends on the society. All wasteful consumption of raw materials or instruments of labor, are absolutely prohibited, because the things which were wasted in this process show us an excess amount of expenses of objected labor, and in this case labor does not contribute or mean anything in terms of producing nor entering into its value. If some laborers are lazy or don't want to work hard, the work which they are working on becomes such a monotonous job. We can not expect good quality from that commodity. Looking at the capitalist society, even though we can see a lot of competition that was created from the process: It makes laborers hurry up or every laborer has an obligation to meet certain levels of productivity. However, that kind of society always has to face competition and the quality of work and the degree of technology have a great role in achieving superiority. So what I am trying to say here, competition can develop technology then bring good quality to the commodity. Competition does not require slow or inept labor.
Hans: You did not answer the Question. We are trying to understand Marx's text here, to follow his argument.
