This question <53|53> overall <52|54> Talon: <333-12|111>.
Question 55: Give other examples where something is the carrier of something but not its reason.
[53] Talon: The Carrier But Not The Cause   To illustrate the question I offer trees as an example. Shade trees certainly have use value without necessarily having exchange value. It is easy enough to find a shade tree without labor, so you don't need to exchange anything for one. Of course if you want one planted in your yard, you'd better be prepared to pay. But there are plenty of trees in parks and on public lands, offering utility to anyone who wants it.
Art is a carrier of beauty without being the cause of beauty. Delacroix's “Liberty Leading the People” is a piece of art that is beautiful. On the other hand, a rose is also beautiful, but it is not art.
Music is another example. Music carries sound but is not the reason for sound.
I can also cite books. Books carry knowledge but we do not need them in order to gain knowledge.
On a less abstract note, beer carries yeast but, as with the other examples, does not cause it.
Hans: Some interesting examples but you are not explaining yourself very well. It took me a while to understand where you are coming from. You should have started with an introduction setting the framework.
