Exam Question 1: What is wealth?
[22] Skippy: Wealth?   The question is “what is wealth?”
Marx says that wealth is “a collection of commodities.”
Wealth is based upon how many and which types of material objects are possessed to benefit an individual.
I can accept this, but why is wealth important in Marxism?
I believe that Marx wanted to see all people to be equaly “wealthy” to eliminate the different types of economic classes.
Wealth has no place in a Marxist society. Wealth is for those who want to separate themselves from society inorder to emphasize what they have instead of who they are.
Hans: It is my impression that you did not do the readings. Everything I had to answer you in [23] was explained in the study guide. But I like it that you noticed that the Marxism as you understood it was contradictory, and that you came forward with your criticism. I gave you credit for that. Your grade would have been at least half a grade point worse without this.
