Question 49: What is value (according to Marx)?

[27] Hans: Socialist versus capitalist values   KALISPEL's [20] does not explain what Marx means by the word “value” but describes Marx's values, which he also characterizes as “intrinsic values of the human species” (and I agree with this characterization).

Then KALISPEL describes the non-achievement of these values under capitalism, which values “productivity and profits.”

According to Marx, capitalism cannot be explained by people's misdirected aspirations. In order to understand capitalism, you need something which Marx calls “value”, but it is not the kind of value KALISPEL is talking about here.
