Question 12: Describe a situation in daily life in which this “abstractness” of wealth becomes an issue.
[20] Cleo: modern life crisis   In Rosie's assertation [15] she claimed that the abstractness of wealth has caused a crisis of modern life. I would like to expand upon the idea that we are more often than not working 80 hour work weeks. This form of production has become a normal part of everyday life for many of us, yet this in no way makes it right. It is the capitalists who are increasingly forcing their laborers to raise their level of labor, in other words to increase their exploitation. In every direction of your life, most likely you know someone, or know of someone who reluctantly works additional hours than previously agreed to, and is getting the same amount of money, or possibly even less. When factoring in the present state of the economy, in an economic downturn, this presents us with nothing but a class struggle. Laboreres, in the working class are being continually forced to accept over time hours, for the simple reason of keeping their job and staying employed.
This class struggle and exploitation has resulted in a means of survival. One needs an income in order to survive in our society. However, in this constant fight for survival, many have lost touch with the thnigs that really matter, and are busy working to obtain material goods.
