[48] Oak: Ah, the exploited lazy! I actually lost sleep thinking about my response last night
as it didn't seem right. But now that I find I have
misunderstood the question, I'd like to offer an additional
point. I believe Marx puts more blame on the system that
allows people “misbehave” than on the people. If someone is
being exploited, the natural response would be to react
negatively and do as little as possible in return for the
exploitation. It's not a character flaw, simply a natural
reaction. People who don't feel they are getting their fair
return will slow down to a level that will equal the reward.
The danger is if they slow down too much in a capitalist
system, they run the risk of losing their work altogether.
Marx would argue, I think, that the people are exploited by
this system because they need their jobs and must put up
with the exploitation to keep food on the table. |
