[7] Hans: The relations of production are basic. LeatherBoy [4] says: if we know how a society deals with its
wealth, with what it has, we can understand its values and
priorities. This approach to societies is quite different
from Marx's. In Marx's view, one should not begin with
values and priorities in order to understand societies.
Marx holds that the organization of production is the most
basic social relation which helps us explain the other
social relations. Marx first investigates which social
relations the members of society enter with each other in
order to produce wealth. The distribution of wealth is
determined by this, and all other social relations are
affected and “colored” by this basic production relation. |
