This question <563-1|563-14> overall <563-3|563-5> Jimmie: <563-3|577>.
Question 555: What is wrong with the argument that the economic self-interest of the capitalists themselves will see to it that they treat their workers well?
[563-4] Jimmie: don't exploit.   It is the capitalist who exploit their workers. They do not treat the laborers with the respect that they deserve. The capitalist will use everything they can to gain as much out of the workers as possible. The capitalist might be kind to the employee, causing worker loyalty but in the end the capitalist will end up exploiting the worker causing a loss of surplus leading to the loss of profit. In Indonesia the capitalist provide poor woking conditions. They feel that they can treat their workers any way they feel and will gain a large profit. But the woking conditions are poor and the economy is failing.
Hans: I like your internationalist perspective. But you are too optimistic if you think exploitation causes the economy to fail.
