Question 5: Can one say that happiness is the only true wealth?
[120] Claire: Marx states that material wealth enhances human life. Here I would have to agree. When one has materials, such as food and shelter, one's life is enhanced and one is happier. One feels more efficient and has more confidence, leisure time, and the ability to do what one wants to do.    Originally:  Marx states that material wealth enhances human life.   I think it is true that happiness is the only true wealth. Even as a small child, I have heard that “money can't buy you everything.” True, it can make life easier or a little more bearable, but it can't keep a person around forever. Wealth can't buy love or even happiness. One chooses to be happy by finding happiness in work, family or in accomplishments. Poor people can be happier than a rich fool with lots of material items and a bad attitude.    Whether happiness is the only true wealth, I think is true.   So yes, one can say that happiness is the only true wealth. Materials are not everything.    So I would have to aggree with the question, one can say that happiness is the only true wealth. Materials are not everything.
