possess a certain quality to cause it to be manifested in another. There
are many examples of this relationship, like the one given in the
annotations about the sun causing things to cast shadows, but not having a
shadow of its own. Another is an allergen. An allergen doesn't possess
allergies, but can cause them in something else. Labor gives something it
does not have (value) via its abstraction: “labor power”. Labor power is a
commodity such that its consumption is the objectification of value and in
its consumption value is endowed to other commodities. |
