[95] Dani: The coat and linen are exchanged because they have different use values. If
these items had the same use-values the market would have no need to
exchange them. While the production processes are different, tailoring and
weaving, the labor that went into them is basically the same. I do believe
however the labor that went into them has to do partly with their exchange
as well. Each one of us could do the labor to weave the linen and tailor
coats and there would be no need to exchange, but if each person's labor is
more useful in the production of one of the products than another person and
that person is more useful in the production of another product then the
market can come up with an exchange value between the two products. For
instance in this example 10 yards of linen has double the value of the coat. |
